The St. Joseph Woodshop is where my faith and craftsmanship come together.

My name is Joseph, and I’ve been working with wood since 2016, when I first started building pieces on the side while teaching. What began as a small creative outlet quickly grew into something more. Over the years, and through multiple moves across the country as a military family, this work has stayed constant. In 2021, my brother and I took the leap and pursued woodworking full time. Since then, my focus has continued to develop, especially in the direction of Catholic art, while still taking on custom furniture projects, particularly handcrafted tables.

I’m a self-taught woodworker, and I’ve always been drawn to the natural beauty of the material itself. Most of my work is done using the natural tones of different wood species, allowing the grain and color to speak for itself. While I occasionally use dyes, the goal is always to preserve the integrity of the wood. Each piece is carefully designed and built with intention. What you see in the final product is only a fraction of the time and thought that goes into it.

My work in Catholic art comes from a personal place. Devotion to the rosary and a growing relationship with St. Joseph led me to feel called to create pieces that reflect the faith in a tangible way. The saint portraits, in particular, have become some of my favorite projects. Each one is an attempt to balance creativity with reverence, offering something that is both visually distinct and faithful to the tradition it represents.

In addition to wall art, I also make handmade rosaries and continue to build custom furniture. Whether it is a piece for a home, a church, or a gift marking an important moment, my goal is always the same. I want to create something lasting. Everything that comes out of the shop is built with the intention of being heirloom quality, something that can be kept, used, and passed down.

This shop is still growing, still evolving, and still very much a personal endeavor. I am grateful to be able to do this work, and even more grateful for the people who bring these pieces into their homes and lives.
